Road Works in Cusop Dingle - latest news update

(published by: Parish Council)

14/07/2010

I have now received the latest, and I hope final, advice on the timing

of these works.

First, they will now be spread over two days - Thursday 22nd and Friday

23rd July.

Second, they will now be formally closing the road after all. The

closure will take effect from 9am to 4pm each day and will apply to the

Dingle road from the Three Ways junction opposite Ty Glyn as far as the end of the road at Brickyard.

The Village Hall car park will be available for anyone who would like to park his or her vehicle there during the closure rather than have it trapped in the dingle. Please phone Neville Jones on 01497 820398 if you would like to do so.

Amey will shortly be doing a letter drop to directly affected properties.

Road Works in Cusop Dingle - latest news

(published by: Parish Council)

07/07/2010

The latest information about these works is that they will now happen on Friday 23rd July. They should last no more than the one day. The work will be carried out by a team from Tarmac rather than Amey themselves. It is still possible that the date could slip by a day or two.

The resurfacing of the B4348 between Lower Mead and Black Lion Bridge - which was to have been carried out at the same time - has been postponed to early next year.

Meet the Vicar

(published by: St. Mary's Church)

Meet the Vicar

On Thursday 22nd July 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be an opportunity for local people to meet Anand. Gone are the days when the local vicar had time to knock on doors and introduce himself. Anand has eight parishes and obviously this task would be impossible. If you live in Cusop or beyond, please come along, have a cup of tea and show Anand just how friendly our community is. Everyone Welcome

Road Works in Cusop Dingle

(published by: Parish Council)

17/06/2010

Amey (who now maintain the roads for Herefordshire Council) are organising major roadworks the length of Cusop Dingle on or about 20th July. I understand the works should only spread over a day or two, although the exact date may shift a bit, so please do not depend on it yet. Amey will be making letter drops to residents in the Dingle closer to the day.

They will be resurfacing some stretches and patch-repairing elsewhere. I am told that they will not formally close the road and they will try to minimise disruption eg by using smaller machinery on the narrow parts of the upper Dingle, but there will be long delays on occasion and larger vehicles may find it especially difficult. Obviously in the lower Dingle it should often be possible to get in and out by other routes using side roads.

Amey should shortly be marking up the road to identify to the repair crews the extent of the surfacing works, so this should make it visible to everyone. They say that during the works anyone concerned can speak to the site foreman for an idea of timings on the actual day. The staff involved will try to accommodate any requests made in order to help with access.

The same crews will also be re-surfacing the B4348 between Lower Mead and the Black Lion Bridge, probably involving temporary traffic lights, so there will also be delays getting in and out of the main road.

I will post any further significant information if and when I get it.
